In just 48 short years, UAE has accomplished many remarkable things and has achieved mind-blowing feats. UAE is the home of one of the busiest airports in the world. Did you know that UAE’s national animal was brought back from near extinction (it is the first species to undergo that process)

1. The Capital Gate building in Abu Dhabi leans 4 times more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa

The capital city of UAE, Abu Dhabi is the home of the World’s Furthest Leaning Manmade Tower. Guinness World Records awarded the Capital Gate building this title in 2010. The Capital Gate leans 18 degrees which are over 4 times more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

2. UAE’s national animal was once near-extinct.

UAE’s national animal is the Arabian Oryx, a species of antelope native to the Arabian desert. In 1972, according to the reports, there were no Arabian Oryx left in the wild. But due to the continuous conservation and breeding efforts, a miracle happened in 1980. The once-endangered species were revived and their status turned to ‘vulnerable’.

Today the species is also the national animal of several nations; Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Yemen and Bahrain.

3. UAE is home to the world’s busiest airport.

UAE hosts 10 airports for commercial airports and the biggest of them is also the busiest. Dubai International Airport held the title of the World’s busiest airport for 6 consecutive years.

4. The safest city in the world is in UAE.

The inaugural MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2022 has been revealed, with 11 MICHELIN-Starred and 14 Bib Gourmand restaurants

According to the crowd sources global data website Numbeo, Abu Dhabi is the safest city in the world. Sharjah and Dubai also sealed 5th and 6th positions respectively in 2020.

8. UAE population is made up of almost every nationality in the WORLD!

More than 80% of the UAE’s 9.89 million residents are made up of ex-pats from over 200 nationalities. Citizens from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and the Philippines are the largest portion of ex-pats in UAE.

9. UAE’s world records are mind-blowing (and unusual)

We all know that the world’s tallest tower is situated in UAE, the Burj Khalifa and it holds the world record for the respective title. But there are also some pretty fascinating records belonging to UAE. The fastest 10 metres competed by a horse on its hind legs and the record for the most dominoes toppled in a circle field – 89,995 are just 2 of them.

10. The first Minister for Artificial Intelligence is from UAE.

In 2017 UAE created a new ministerial position and it was for Artificial Intelligence. In doing so UAE became the first country to appoint a minister for artificial intelligence. Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama has held the position of Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence since it was created.

11. UAE has one of the highest literacy rates in the world

Did you know that 70% of all university graduates in the country are women? Well, you do know now. The country has a 93% literacy rate in general and a 95.8% literacy rate when it comes to women. It’s fascinating right?
